Approve, reject or ask for more
Make the decision on a registration application, and know what the portal does when you approve.
What you will learn
- Approve an application and know what it produces
- Reject with a reason
- Send an application back with Ask for more
- Know the rules that block an approval
Step by step
- Open the application and check it (see the previous lesson).
- In the Decision panel, choose one:
- Approve: type an optional Comment (optional) and press Approve.
- Ask for more: type What they must add or fix and press Send request. The application moves to Waiting on applicant.
- Reject: type the Reason and press Reject. The applicant sees it and can apply again later.
- While you wait for the applicant, you can still press Reject instead.
What approval produces
- A registration number, for example AHPC/PROV/2026/0001 (provisional), AHPC/TEMP/2026/0001 (temporary) or AHPC/PERM/2026/0001 (permanent).
- A registration certificate with a QR code. Press View certificate to open it.
- The professional’s status changes to Provisional, Temporary or Permanent.
- Provisional and temporary registration is valid for one year. Permanent registration has no end date.
- For permanent registration, when a renewal period has opened this year, the professional also gets this year’s PIN and annual licence, so they don’t renew separately.
- The applicant is told by message and in their portal.
Rules that stop an approval
- The fee invoice must be paid. The invoice is raised when the applicant sends the application.
- For permanent registration, the applicant must have passed the licensure exam. The exception is a foreign-trained applicant whom the Interview Panel approved for permanent registration directly.
- The rules on who may apply (graduates for provisional, foreign-trained or visiting professionals for temporary) are checked when the application is sent. See Who can apply for which registration.
- Only an application that is Submitted, Under review or Resubmitted can be approved.
What you will see
- A green Approved box with the new number, for example Number AHPC/PERM/2026/0012 issued.
- The Approve button is greyed out while a Can’t approve yet box shows.
