Check a certificate or ID card with its QR code

3 min Anyone with a phone camera

Every certificate and ID card the Council issues carries a signed QR code. Scan it to see whether the document is genuine and still valid.

What you will learn

  • Scan the QR code on a certificate or ID card
  • Recognise a genuine, valid document
  • Know what to do when a check fails

The QR code holds a short code that only the Council can issue. When you scan it, the portal looks the document up in the live register and shows who it belongs to and whether it is still valid. A copied or edited document doesn’t pass.

Step by step

  1. Open your phone camera and point it at the QR code on the certificate or on the back of the ID card.
  2. Tap the link that appears. It opens a page on portal.ahpcghana.com.
  3. Compare the name, profession and photo on the page with the document in front of you.
  4. Read the status at the top of the result.

What you will see

  • Verified: the document is genuine and the person is in good standing.
  • Expired or Revoked: the document is genuine but no longer valid. A reason is shown when there is one.
  • A page that is not on portal.ahpcghana.com: the code is not the Council’s. Treat the document as suspicious.
