Upload results from a spreadsheet

4 min Examinations staff

Save the scores for a whole session at once from a CSV file.

What you will learn

  • Prepare the file with the right columns
  • Upload it
  • Fix any rows that weren’t saved

Step by step

  1. In your spreadsheet, make three columns with these exact headings:
    • exam_number: the candidate’s exam number, for example EXAM/12/0034.
    • subject_code: the paper’s code, as shown under Papers on the session page.
    • score: the score.
  2. Put one row per candidate and paper. Save the file as CSV (no larger than 2 MB).
  3. Open the session and press Upload results above the candidate list. Choose the file.
  4. Check the message. If every row was saved, you see “Results saved for … candidates”.
  5. If some rows had problems, a list shows which rows weren’t saved and why. Correct them and upload again, or type them in for each candidate.

What you will see

  • The Upload results button shows only while the session is open, closed or completed, and before results are published.
  • The Uploading results box on the right repeats the column names.
